SYSTRA USA is expanding in the Greater NYC Area, launching a billable MEP client practice. We seek a dynamic Sr.

Mechanical Engineer (Seller/Doer) to lead building systems design for complex infrastructure projects, including new construction and major renovations. You will work with NYCHA, NYC SCA and MTA, define scope, lead estimates and proposals, mentor junior staff, and ensure code compliance and documentation quality.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.E. in Mechanical Engineering.
• Active PE registration in NY and/or NJ.
• 10+ years in mechanical building systems design (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection).
• Known design standards with Greater NYC public agencies (NYC SCA, NYCHA, MTA).
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit MEP; experience with TRACE 3D Plus or HAP.
• Strong knowledge of NYC Building Code, NYS Energy Code, ASHRAE, NFPA; strong PM skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical building systems design for complex infrastructure projects (new and renovations).
• Interface with NYCHA, NYC SCA, MTA to understand requirements and secure MEP task orders.
• Lead scope definition, fee estimation and proposals for public housing/education transit sectors.
• Oversee calculations, load modeling and mechanical design for diverse facilities.
• Collaborate with signals, traction power, structural and architecture teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Create and review technical documentation and ensure compliance with guidelines.
