Job summary

Leonardo DRS in High Ridge, MO is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the development of marine, water-cooled chiller systems and new products such as heat exchangers and HVAC&R equipment for commercial and defense markets.

You will drive design efforts, oversee supplier evaluation, create technical documentation, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring compliance with Navy and MIL standards. U.S. Citizenship is required and security clearance may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• Experience designing chiller systems, especially centrifugal water-cooled chiller systems.
• Experience leading engineering projects, especially new system developments.
• Knowledge of LGWP refrigerants used in HVAC&R systems.
• Ability to create technical documentation for fabrication and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support development of marine chiller systems, including centrifugal compressors.
• Engineer HVAC&R equipment sizing, selection, and performance predictions.
• Specify and evaluate supplier components and services.
• Participate in supplier scouting and engagement for new projects.
• Develop design approaches to meet production requirements and propose improvements.
• Investigate and resolve product or process issues.
• Prepare manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and supporting documentation.
• Review customer specifications and develop compliant designs for bids.
• Create technical documentation, manuals, and procedures.
