Thomas Young Group in Raleigh, NC seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical engineering efforts across small to mid-size projects in commercial buildings. The role includes managing budgets, timelines, and cross-disciplinary coordination to deliver high-quality design and documentation.

The ideal candidate has a PE license, 5+ years of experience, and strong knowledge of mechanical schematics, systems, and industry codes, with proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Trane Trace, or ROHR2.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• 5+ years of experience designing mechanical systems in commercial buildings.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) — required.
• Strong understanding of mechanical schematics, systems, and industry codes.
• Proficient in design tools like Revit, AutoCAD, Trane Trace, or ROHR2.
• Able to travel occasionally (up to 10%) and conduct site visits as needed.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering efforts on small to mid-size complex projects
• Manage budgets, timelines, and deliverables while coordinating across disciplines
• Develop specs, cost estimates, designs, and documentation for mechanical systems
• Represent the firm in design and construction meetings
• Mentor junior engineers and review their work for accuracy and quality
• Stay current with codes, standards, and industry best practices
