Job summary

Thomas Young Group in Raleigh is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC and mechanical building systems for mission-critical facilities. You will work on complex cooling systems and coordinate with electrical and other disciplines, taking on increasing responsibility as the Raleigh team grows.

This role offers exposure to data center projects, opportunity to develop specialist knowledge, and a clear pathway to advancement within a growing MEP consultancy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3–7 years of mechanical design experience.
• Experience designing HVAC and mechanical building systems.
• Proficiency with Revit.
• Experience with plumbing or fire protection is beneficial.
• Data center or mission-critical experience preferred.
• CFD experience is advantageous.
• EIT certification preferred; PE licensure a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC and mechanical systems for complex facilities.
• Support plumbing, fire protection and controls design.
• Complete load, ventilation and airflow calculations.
• Support equipment selection and system sizing.
• Develop coordinated construction drawings and technical documentation.
• Ensure designs meet building codes and engineering standards.
• Coordinate with electrical and other engineering disciplines.
• Work closely with project teams throughout design and delivery.
• Communicate technical requirements and resolve design issues.
• Continue developing expertise through project exposure and training.
