Job Responsibilities
This role drives research & development activities in the mechanical engineering domain of advanced gaming peripheral products. The responsibilities include :
Research & Development
- Oversee all areas of mechanical R&D from concepts through to mass production.
- Lead the design of Mechanical Architecture for computer peripheral devices.
Tooling Release & Design For Manufacturability (DFM)
- Oversee the release of tooling for production.
- Create 3D designs in CAD and 2D drawings according to Razer standards.
- Implement DFM and DFA principles to optimize product designs for manufacturing.
Project Management
- Manage timelines, budgets, and resources related to mechanical engineering, including product BOM cost, tooling cost, and NRE cost.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Vendor and Partner Coordination
- Liaise with vendors and contract manufacturers.
- Drive adoption of systematic tools like DOE, DFM, DFMEA, geometric tolerance, FAI, and FACA to ensure high quality and performance.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of development processes and technical documentation.
- Communicate project status and technical details clearly.
Quality Assurance & Testing
- Define and execute rigorous testing procedures to ensure product reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with QA teams to meet product standards.
- Work with cross-functional teams including design, production, and marketing.
- Be the go-to person for troubleshooting mechanical design issues across projects.
- Master's / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as ProE, SolidWorks.
- Experience in mechanical part and mechanism design for DFM and DFA, using plastic and sheet metal parts, including secondary and cosmetic processes.
- Experience in mold tooling is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel frequently to China, Thailand, and Vietnam.
- Good communication skills; proficiency in English and Mandarin.
- Experience in fast-paced consumer electronics development, particularly in designing computer peripherals and smart lighting products, is an advantage.
