Job Summary
DLB is seeking a skilled and motivated Service Technician Level II to support and lead field service operations for Building Automation Systems (BAS) in critical environments, including Healthcare, Commercial, and Mission Critical facilities.
This position is ideal for experienced technicians with a strong foundation in BAS or HVAC controls who are ready to take ownership of service calls, perform preventative maintenance, and provide technical leadership to junior team members. The role offers field autonomy, technical challenge, and the opportunity to work with advanced platforms like Tridium Niagara, Honeywell WEBs, and Distech Controls.
Essential Functions
BAS Emergency Service and Support (40%)
- Lead and respond to emergency service requests for BAS and HVAC systems.
- Independently troubleshoot BAS networks, controllers, and field devices both remotely and on-site.
- Provide guidance and support to Level I technicians during service calls.
- Complete and submit service reports, ticket notes, and recommendations using internal tools.
BAS Preventative Maintenance (40%)
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance visits with minimal supervision.
- Test, calibrate, and verify sensor and actuator operations.
- Review system trends, sequences, and GUIs for performance insights and improvement opportunities.
Reporting and Documentation (20%)
- Prepare professional service reports and findings summaries for clients.
- Log labor hours, tasks, and recommendations into company systems.
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in BAS, HVAC controls, or low-voltage systems.
- Familiarity with one or more of the following: Tridium Niagara (AX/N4), Honeywell WEBs, or Distech Controls.
- Solid understanding of HVAC systems, BAS architecture, and common communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).
- Strong troubleshooting, time management, and customer service skills.
- Capable of working independently and mentoring junior technicians.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks for critical site access.
Preferred but Not Required:
- Associate's or technical degree in HVAC, Electronics, or similar field.
- OSHA 10/30 or NFPA 70E certifications (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Experience in mission-critical or healthcare environments.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequent use of hands and tools for basic installation or testing
- Ability to move through various facility environments (e.g., data centers, rooftops)
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds occasionally
- May be required to climb ladders or navigate tight spaces
TRAVEL / RELOCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Up to 75% travel may be required
- Travel may include visits to job sites, team meetings, and technical training
