Job summary

Harley Ellis Devereaux (HED) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to take ownership of mechanical design tasks from concept through construction within our Chicago area offices. The role emphasizes technical contribution, field coordination, and mentoring junior staff in modeling and documentation.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, P.E. licensure, and 5+ years in the AEC industry, with a hybrid schedule to Office locations in Chicago or Detroit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• PE licensure is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design development and calculations for mechanical systems across schematic, design development, and construction document phases.
• Prepare technical documentation including system descriptions, specifications, equipment schedules, and redlines.
• Develop and review mechanical layouts in Revit in coordination with architectural and structural teams.
• Coordinate mechanical design with internal disciplines and external consultants to resolve design conflicts and progress design.
