Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Mechanical Engineer skilled in HVAC and plumbing to advance design on resilient, sustainable facilities. This hybrid role can be based in our offices in Boston, MA; Fairfax, VA; Pittsburgh, PA; Maitland, FL; Raleigh, NC; or Dallas, TX.

You will mentor junior engineers, lead design reviews, and contribute to knowledge sharing with white papers and journals. A 5-year track record, CAD proficiency, and EIT/FE eligibility within 18 months are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
• EIT certification or FE exam within 18 months of hire.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC and plumbing systems, master planning, feasibility studies, and mechanical systems such as co-generation; incorporate sustainability and energy efficiency principles.
• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and firm policies.
• Performing site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications and update requirements.
• Contributing to Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation and submitting for journals.
• Attending industry conferences and symposia to enhance visibility and collaborate with sales teams.
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and supervising project work.
