Job summary

Arup is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Houston to lead mechanical designs and guide multidisciplinary teams. You will design airside and hydronic systems, work with stakeholders and code officials, and mentor staff to deliver coordinated drawings, specs, and reports for diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or architectural engineering.
• 6+ years of professional experience designing and building HVAC systems for medium to large scale buildings.
• Familiarity with codes and standards (CMC, IECC/ASHRAE 90.1, LEED energy efficiency and indoor air quality, NFPA).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for team-based work.
• Presentation skills with colleagues, design & construction teams.
• Experience delegating work; discipline lead experience on small/medium projects or portion of large projects.
• Ability to prioritize, balance workload, and maintain strong organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering designs and provide multi-disciplinary design leadership.
• Design mechanical systems including airside, hydronic plant, exhaust and steam systems.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and code officials to deliver projects through construction.
• Coordinate across disciplines and with project managers for integrated deliverables.
• Mentor team members and provide timely feedback and recognition.
• Maintain strong client relations for project delivery and repeat business.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, reports, and presentations with sustainable design methods.
• Present technical material to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Participate in local professional associations.
• Maintain quality standards and commercial metrics across projects.
