Job summary

BSI Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC, plumbing, and utility systems for clients in specialty chemical, renewable chemical, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, consumer products, and aviation sectors.

The role contributes to projects from concept through construction, ensuring code-compliant designs that meet safety and reliability goals. BSI embraces a hybrid work schedule with in-office presence required at least three days per week, and offers mentoring, tuition

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
• 8+ years of consulting engineering experience.
• Knowledge of industrial mechanical engineering practices including HVAC, hydronic, steam, compressed air, and dust collection.
• Experience with HVAC load calculation software.
• PE license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver schematic design, design development, and construction documents for mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and building utilities.
• Coordinate with clients, project managers, and design disciplines to align solutions with objectives, scope, budget and schedule.
• Travel to client sites to gather field data for evaluation of existing systems.
• Prepare detailed drawings and specifications per NFPA, ASHRAE, SMACNA, and ASME.
• Prepare P&IDs, Airflow and Instrumentation Diagrams, and Fire Protection Coverage Plans.
• Generate equipment specifications and support bid evaluations and drawings submittals.
• Assist in plant layout development showing equipment locations and ductwork routing.
• Ensure design coordination within 2D/3D representations and site scans.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Apply industry standards and client preferences into design.
