Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with HVAC and plumbing expertise to advance projects across the firm’s design teams. The role offers hybrid work and potential assignments from our Boston, MA; Fairfax, VA; Pittsburgh, PA; Maitland, FL; Raleigh, NC; or Dallas, TX offices.

You will lead design efforts, mentor junior staff, and help deliver sustainable, codes-compliant solutions while collaborating with sales and project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or Engineering Technology or related discipline.
• EIT or FE exam passed (within 18 months of hire or transfer).
• 5 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC and plumbing systems including master planning and feasibility studies.
• Review designs for compliance with regulations.
• Perform site reviews to ensure alignment with location specs.
• Develop technical design documentation and papers.
• Collaborate with sales teams to maximize outreach.
• Provide mentoring and supervision to junior staff.
• Perform other duties as required.
