CDM Smith is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with HVAC and plumbing expertise to advance project leadership and deliver innovative, sustainable environments. The role supports a hybrid office/remote schedule across multiple US offices, including the Richmond area.

The incumbent will expand technical capabilities, guide junior staff, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet client requirements and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
EIT or FE exam in states where EIT is not obtainable within 18 months of hire.
5 years of related experience or equivalent.
Travel may be required; frequency depends on project needs.

Responsibilities

Design HVAC and plumbing systems, including master planning, feasibility studies, and mechanical systems.
Review designs for code compliance and firm policy adherence.
Conduct site reviews and update design requirements based on location specs.
Contribute to Technical Knowledge Management with papers and design docs.
Attend conferences to enhance visibility and engage with sales teams.
Mentor junior staff and supervise project work as needed.
