Persona AI in Houston is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to shape the design of humanoid robots for industrial environments. You will own mechanical concepts from sketches to CAD models, prototypes, and production deployment on site.

The role emphasizes high-volume manufacturing readiness, collaboration with electrical, software, controls, UX/UI, and industrial design teams, and hands-on lab work to transform ideas into production-grade systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Robotics, Mechatronics or related fields.
• 5+ years designing mechanical systems in robotics or related industries; shipped products a plus.
• Experience with high-volume mass manufacturing DFM processes (injection molding, stamping, CNC).
• Hands-on prototyping, manufacturing techniques, and material selection experience.
• Proficient CAD user with a passion for precise, scalable design.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; capable of complex calculations (FEA).
• Collaborative mindset and clear communication across cross-functional teams.
• GD&T knowledge and attention to detail in tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Create and refine mechanical designs for advanced humanoid robotics including actuators and manipulators.
• Own designs from sketches through CAD modeling, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and deployment.
• Conduct simulations and performance evaluations to optimize system functionality.
• Generate documentation: CAD drawings, diagrams, test plans, and assembly instructions.
• Interface with external partners to optimize manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Hands-on lab work to turn concepts into production-ready systems.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, controls, UX/UI, and industrial design teams for integration.
• Address daily engineering challenges and push robotics technology forward.
