Job summary

Clear. in Austin, TX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC and cooling systems for modular data center products, focusing on thermal management for 50kW+ per rack AI/GPU workloads. Experience with liquid cooling is highly valued.

You will collaborate across disciplines to ensure designs are manufacturable, validated, and ready for pilot and production runs, with equity compensation alongside base salary.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 4 to 10 years of mechanical engineering experience with data center cooling or thermal systems.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical and HVAC systems for modular data center units, including precision cooling and liquid cooling.
• Develop thermal management solutions for high-density AI and GPU compute environments.
• Produce mechanical drawings, equipment schedules, and fabrication documentation.
• Perform cooling capacity modelling and thermal analysis to validate designs.
• Collaborate with electrical, structural, and controls engineers throughout development.
• Coordinate with OEMs and fabrication partners to ensure manufacturability.
• Support prototyping, factory testing, and commissioning activities.
