Job summary

AMD in Austin, TX is hiring a Thermal/Mechanical Engineer to lead thermal design for our AI accelerators and data center GPUs. You will work across silicon, board, power, validation, and manufacturing teams to deliver cooling solutions from concept through production.

The role emphasizes hands‑on testing, thermal modeling, and technology development in a fast‑paced environment. Strong CFD and CAD skills, plus a master’s in mechanical engineering, are preferred.

Qualifications

  • MSc/PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Strong background in heat transfer, fluids, electronics cooling.
  • Experience with CFD and thermal design in data center or AI hardware contexts.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop thermal solutions for AMD data center AI accelerators and GPUs.
  • Collaborate with silicon, board, power, validation, manufacturing and platform teams.
  • Perform thermal validation: test planning, experiments, data collection and analysis.
  • Contribute to thermal modeling and simulation for product development.
  • Investigate emerging cooling technologies aligned with AMD roadmap.
  • Support product development from concept to mass production.
