Job summary

Zaddy Solutions is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer for our steel operations in the United States. The role concentrates on troubleshooting, upgrading, and sustaining heavy industrial equipment on the plant floor and in capital projects.

You will partner with Maintenance and Operations to improve uptime and safety. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in mechanical engineering within steelmaking or heavy industry, with strong project leadership and supplier management experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in steelmaking or heavy industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment, hydraulics, and plant systems.
• Experience with melting equipment, furnaces, or steelmaking operations is a strong plus.
• Experience managing capital projects, equipment installations, budgets, and schedules.
• Ability to troubleshoot, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions.
• Ability to collaborate with maintenance, operations, vendors, and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, improve, and optimize mechanical and hydraulic systems across the facility.
• Lead reliability and continuous improvement initiatives to boost uptime and efficiency.
• Support melting and steelmaking equipment upgrades, installations, and troubleshooting.
• Provide engineering support for large baghouse and environmental systems ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Lead capital and facility improvement projects from concept to completion.
• Develop detailed project scopes, specifications, bid packages, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Evaluate suppliers and contractors, review proposals, negotiate contracts, oversee outside resources.
• Coordinate with internal teams to keep projects moving forward.
• Manage projects to budgets, schedules, safety requirements, and performance targets.
• Assist Director of Steelmaking Technology with specialized projects.
• Provide hands-on technical support during equipment installations and shutdowns.
• Travel locally and internationally as needed.
• Maintain a strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
