Job summary

United Launch Alliance, LLC seeks a Mechanical Engineer to research, design and develop modules for ground support equipment and launch site systems at Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg. You will apply mechanical engineering principles to planning, design, development and testing of hardware used in the transmission and use of energy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Lead a project team from initial concepts through final installation.
• Strong project lead skills and solid Mechanical design experience a must.
• Proficient with NX, Teamcenter, MS Office, MS Project.
• Proficient in drawing standards and GD&T.
• Experienced contributor that can work in a fast-paced environment.
• Work experience on projects with multi-disciplinary integration.
• Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills.
• Able to work independently and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs for Mechanical Ground Support Equipment Transportation & Handling for Launch complexes at Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg Space Force Bases.
• Create models and release drawings used for fabrication; designs optimized for manufacturability.
• Work with ULA subcontract administration and manufacturers through fabrication, test and acceptance.
• Support first use of hardware to ensure proper installation and processing.
• Must be available for periodic travel to the other ULA sites.
• Perform preliminary strength calculations before engaging Strength team for final buy off.
