Job summary

Cummings Aerospace Inc. is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer in Arlington, VA to lead a mechanical design team and advance high-speed flight vehicle hardware.

The role requires extensive hands-on analysis, CAD work, and cross-team collaboration to meet system requirements. The successful candidate will perform static and dynamic structural and thermal analyses, guide design reviews, and coordinate with manufacturing.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 15–20 years mechanical engineering experience.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or CREO.
• Experience with hardware integration on flight vehicles.
• Experience with SRR, PDR, CDR design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead of a mechanical engineering design team.
• Develop mechanical designs and drawings to support hardware development life cycle.
• Collaborate with program engineering team or customer to develop system requirements.
• Perform static and dynamic structural analysis to validate requirements.
• Develop design solution presentations for reviews and trade studies.
• Interface with engineering and manufacturing teams for hardware solutions.
• Produce engineering deliverables to meet customer requirements.
• Support program meetings and reviews as required.
