Job summary

Arup’s Texas mechanical team seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Houston to lead designs for airside and hydronic systems, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver coordinated outcomes. You will mentor staff, uphold quality, and maintain strong client relations while advancing decarbonization and sustainability goals.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or architectural engineering, 6+ years in HVAC design, and US PE licensure or equivalent, with a focus on code compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or architectural engineering.
• 6+ years of professional experience designing and building HVAC systems.
• Familiarity with codes/standards (CMC, IECC/ASHRAE 90.1, LEED, NFPA).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for team work.
• Presentation skills with colleagues, design & construction teams.
• Experience delegating work and leading on projects within budget.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and adapt in a changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering designs and provide multidisciplinary design leadership.
• Design airside, hydronic, exhaust, and steam systems for projects.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and code officials for delivery through construction.
• Mentor team members and provide timely feedback and recognition.
• Maintain client relations to support project delivery and repeat business.
• Prepare drawings, specs, reports, and include sustainable design methods.
• Present technical material to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Participate in local Professional Associations.
