Job summary

Owen Thomas Group seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC and building systems for federal, government, and commercial projects. The role emphasizes strong HVAC design experience and adherence to codes and standards.

You will develop plans, perform load calculations, review documents, and coordinate with clients and project teams, with potential site visits as needed. A Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and 6+ years of experience are required; PE license preferred.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of mechanical engineering experience in building systems.
• Experience working on federal projects is required.
• Strong HVAC design experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial and government buildings
• Develop mechanical plans, layouts, specifications, and construction documents
• Perform HVAC load calculations and equipment selections
• Design and review mechanical systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards
• Work on projects from initial design through construction
• Review drawings, submittals, RFIs, and other project documentation
• Participate in project meetings and communicate with clients, contractors, and project teams
• Help develop project schedules and budgets
• Conduct site visits and assist with construction administration as needed
