Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. in Tysons, Virginia, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead design, bid, and execution of mechanical systems within facilities operations.

The role demands coordination with contractors, field technicians, and stakeholders from concept through completion in a mission-critical environment. Requirements include a Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, 7+ years in mechanical design or facilities engineering, and proficiency with HVAC/plumbing systems, AutoCAD, Revit, and MS

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• 7+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design, project execution, or facilities engineering
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, project execution, or facilities engineering
• Proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, mechanical systems, and construction management
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project, and engineering software (e.g., Carrier HAP, Trane Trace)
• Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, IBC, and local building codes
• Strong communication, coordination, and documentation skills
• PE license preferred or in progress (optional but desirable)

Responsibilities

• Design Work: Develop and review mechanical system designs (HVAC, piping, plumbing, and related infrastructure)
• Bid Work: Create scopes of work, technical specifications, and detailed bid packages
• Run Work (Execution & Oversight): Provide technical oversight during construction, repair, or retrofit projects
• Facilities Support: Provide engineering support for ongoing operations, preventive maintenance planning, and system troubleshooting
