Job description

Job Summary

Provide services in Mechanical engineering utilizing independent judgment and action. The mechanical engineer will be responsible for the entire project cycle, including proposal phase, conceptual/schematic design, design development, construction documentation, construction administration, and project completion. Develop, set, and maintain project schedules as required. Maintain awareness of design issues and cutting-edge innovations in the field. Assist other engineers with Mechanical Design issues. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will serve as a role model and teacher for other engineers in the company.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Develop solutions to address our customer’s Mission Critical mechanical concerns.
  2. Identify scope, schedule, and budget for mechanical design projects.
  3. Manage design projects, including coordination of multi-disciplinary teams.
  4. Manage customer expectations on assigned projects, including timely responses to questions and issues.
  5. Oversee the work of other engineers and designers to meet project deadlines.
  6. Mentor other Mechanical Engineers on the team.
  7. Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic and working drawings, develop details, and edit specifications for reliable mechanical system solutions.
  8. Write coherent project reports.
  9. Perform mechanical facility condition assessments.
  10. Contribute to the creation of quotations for mechanical design or Turnkey services.
  11. Create and update documentation using AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus.
  12. Provide field support during installation, testing, and start-up of mechanical components.
  13. Work with construction project management to develop schedules and manage tasks for mechanical work.
  14. Understand and develop Sequences of Operations (SOO) for mechanical systems as required.
  15. Assist with system commissioning, including developing test scripts and participating in active testing.
  16. Pursue professional development through training, feedback, and constructive criticism.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes and safety laws. Advanced math skills, spatial reasoning, and understanding of math and physics principles are required.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer is required.
  • Willingness to travel for meetings, site visits, and inspections; valid driver’s license required.
  • Flexibility to work a schedule that may exceed 40 hours per week based on workload and customer needs.
  • Ability to communicate complex design issues effectively.
  • Self-motivation.
Working Conditions

Typically, working conditions are normal for an office environment (about 90%), with site visits and travel making up the remaining 10%. The position may require occasional evening or weekend work based on client requirements.
