Job summary

DLR Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer focused on data center projects across multiple locations in the United States. You will design, coordinate, and implement mechanical systems for high-performance facilities, collaborating with architects and engineers to develop efficient HVAC and cooling solutions that meet reliability and redundancy requirements.

The successful candidate will perform calculations, create Revit documents, review submittals, and lead project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
• 10+ years in an MEP or integrated design firm on commercial/public projects.
• 5+ years of design experience related to data centers.
• Proven experience designing HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems on complex projects.
• Excellent communication with multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients as part of the integrated design process.
• Create and coordinate documents using Revit.
• Perform mechanical/HVAC calculations including code research.
• Perform plumbing/fire protection calculations including code research.

Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineer for Mission Critical Projects is responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of mechanical systems for high-performance, technically complex facilities such as data centers, laboratories, clean rooms, and critical infrastructure environments. This role involves collaborating closely with multi-disciplinary teams to develop innovative, efficient, and scalable HVAC and cooling solutions that meet strict reliability and redundancy requirements.

The successful candidate will

• Collaborate with architects, other engineers, and clients as part of our integrated design process.
• Create and coordinate documents using Revit.
• Perform mechanical/HVAC calculations including code research.
• Perform plumbing/fire protection calculations including code research.
• Write and review specifications.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs and submittals.
• Conduct site visits when needed.
• Manage mechanical project teams and/or interdisciplinary project teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in a MEP or integrated design firm working on commercial/public projects, including the design of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection building systems on complex projects.
• 5+ years of experience of design experience related to data centers.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer designing HVAC, plumbing and fire protection building systems on complex projects.
• Working knowledge of the design and construction process and the ability to understand and communicate with professionals of other disciplines.
• Experience with BIM (e.g. Autodesk Revit MEP) work flow.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer.
• LEED Accredited Professional and previous experience participating in the LEED or other green rating system process.
• Experience and interest in sustainable building design.

The suggested pay range for this position is:

Pay Range

$84,700—$161,200 USD
