Job summary

Mackinnon Bruce International seeks an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design and project delivery for conveyor and bulk material handling systems in mining and heavy industry. You will supervise design teams, perform analyses, review equipment specs, and ensure performance, safety, quality, budget, and schedule compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Mechanical Eng with 7+ years leading or supervising projects.
• Master's in Mechanical Eng with 5+ years in lead roles (optional).
• Strong grasp of mechanical design, calculations, and standards.
• Proven ability to deliver complex projects on schedule and budget.
• Experience supervising engineers and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed mechanical designs, drawings, specs, BOMs and EWPs.
• Design and optimize conveyor and bulk material handling systems.
• Plan and coordinate projects within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Perform calculations, simulations, sizing and throughput analyses.
• Review vendor proposals and select equipment meeting criteria.
• Prepare technical deliverables including PFDs and P&IDs.
• Conduct design reviews and maintain change records.
• Assist with project planning, cost control, and Primavera schedules.
• Support construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
• Collaborate with electrical, process, structural, and procurement teams.
• Identify process improvements and share technical knowledge.
