Job summary

Flow Control Group in the United States seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in centrifugal compressor design, repair, and analysis. You will lead the analysis and recommend repairs for multi-stage centrifugal air compressors based on field data and disassembled components in the shop.

This role spans the entire product lifecycle, from aerodynamic and rotating assemblies to testing and manufacturing support, with mentorship to junior staff and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 7–10 years of experience in mechanical design with high-speed rotating equipment.
• Proven expertise in centrifugal compressor design, rotor dynamics, and aerodynamic interfaces.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software including SolidWorks, Geomagic DesignX, and Prophet21.
• Deep understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5.

Responsibilities

• Lead Design: Own the mechanical design of centrifugal compressors, impellers, casings, and rotor dynamics systems.
• Vibration Analysis: Coordinate acquisition and analysis of spectral vibration data from machinery at customer sites.
• Component Selection: Specify bearings, seals, couplings, and skid materials for high-speed rotating applications.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with manufacturing teams to optimize designs for production and assembly.
• Testing & Validation: Define test plans, oversee prototype testing, and analyze data to refine designs.
• Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
