Job summary

KFI Engineers in Cincinnati, OH seeks a Mechanical Engineer III to lead design of central plant and campus utility systems, including chilled water, hot water, steam, and hydronic networks. You will develop and review P&IDs, layouts, reports, and drawings, coordinating with architecture, electrical, and civil teams.

The role emphasizes customer satisfaction, proposal support, and mentoring junior engineers while delivering high-quality, code-compliant solutions on multi-discipline projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• Minimum of 7 years of Mechanical Engineering experience.
• Designing utility generation and distribution systems (chilled water, hot water, steam, hydronic).
• Experience developing deliverables: P&IDs, mechanical room layouts, piping system designs, sizing calculations.
• Coordinate drawings across multiple disciplines.
• Basic understanding of architectural, electrical, civil, and structural practices.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Strong client relationships and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of chilled water, heating hot water, steam, and hydronic utility systems.
• Develop and review engineering deliverables (P&IDs, layouts, reports, studies, specs, drawings).
• Perform or coordinate pipe stress analysis and provide technical support.
• Coordinate designs with architecture, electrical, civil, and other disciplines.
• Prepare equipment specifications and lead procurement activities.
• Develop estimates and contribute to budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, and scope management.
• Support project planning, resource allocation, and scheduling.
