Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team. You will lead mechanical design efforts, coordinate multi-discipline work, and engage with clients from initial concept through construction.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of experience in institutional or commercial buildings, PE licensure, and proficiency in AutoCAD, REVIT, and Bluebeam. Local Alabama candidates are preferred, with opportunities across multiple Alabama sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 10 years in mechanical system design for commercial/institutional buildings.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the licensing board.
• Strong skills in MS Office, MS Project and AutoCAD.
• Demonstrated leadership, team coordination and project management experience.
• Experience with architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firms.
• Commitment to employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the work of Mechanical Engineers across a multi-discipline team throughout project development.
• Establish client relations and participate in marketing, design and production meetings related to mechanical systems.
• Lead mechanical design on multiple projects.
• Participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
• Conduct schematic, design development and contract document sessions on site with PM and other disciplines.
• Coordinate workload to meet project schedules and budgets.
• Assist in project reviews with regional leadership as needed.
