Job summary

CycloKinetics in Salt Lake City, Utah, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, construction, commissioning, and scale-up of biorefinery operations. You will contribute hands-on expertise to develop reliable mechanical systems and scalable equipment across the facility, collaborating with fabricators, contractors, and the engineering team.

The role requires experience with piping, pressure vessels, steel fabrication, and plant layout.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–10 years in mechanical engineering; petrochemical, steel fabrication, or structural experience preferred.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers is beneficial.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD platforms (SolidWorks, Inventor).
• On-site work in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects or major design tasks from concept through prototype, testing, and production.
• Support the design and construction of the demonstration facility, including tanks, vessels, piping components, and custom equipment.
• Perform analyses: stress, thermal, vibration, and tolerance analyses.
• Create and modify 3D models, assemblies, and detailed fabrication drawings (SolidWorks or similar).
• Coordinate with EPC partners and outside contractors; ensure codes and standards compliance.
