Job summary

Merlin Labs in Boston, MA, is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to design, integrate, and test avionics and control components for aircraft and test labs.

You will lead system integration tasks, perform stress and model analyses, and produce fabrication drawings while supporting flight-test activities and certification efforts. 5+ years in mechanical/airframe domains is required.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5+ years technical work experience.
• Advanced modeling experience with SolidWorks, Catia, OnShape, Fusion360, or Creo.
• Experience leading engineering activities (mechanism design, controls, environmental, structural).
• Knowledge of RTCA DO-160, DO-254 and MIL-STD-810.
• Hands-on lab/field capability and EMI/EMC testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, integrate, and test avionics and control components for aircraft and test labs
• Oversee and/or perform design and analysis tasks for system integration including stress and model analyses
• Provide CAD work in support of design activities, including GD&T
• Support and participate in testing activities – test plans, data analysis, and reports
• Prepare mechanical design and fabrication drawings and related documents
• Travel up to 25-50% to domestic and international locations for integration and testing
