Job summary

Textron Systems seeks a Mechanical Engineer III to design and integrate mechanical systems for uncrewed air and land platforms. You will develop ruggedized, production-ready structures, enclosures, and payload interfaces while coordinating with suppliers and internal teams. The role requires strong communication, 3D CAD proficiency (NX/SolidWorks), and ability to travel up to 15%.

A Secret clearance is required, and candidates must be U.S. citizens.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience in aerospace/defense/robotics/auto sectors.
• Experience designing mechanical components for ruggedized ground vehicles, UAS platforms, robotic systems.
• Experience with vehicle-level integration, structural analysis, payload/sensor integration, environmental sealing.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed mechanical designs for air and ground vehicle structures, payload mounts, enclosures, and actuation subsystems for autonomous vehicles.
• Create Technical Data Packages with 3D models, drawings, specs, and BOMs for prototype and production hardware.
• Produce and review high-quality mechanical and electromechanical drawings for manufacturing, testing, and sustainment.
• Support transition of designs through build, integration, verification, and production; troubleshoot with suppliers.
• Draft technical documentation, system descriptions, and proposal inputs for reviews and deliverables.
• Prepare design reports and presentations summarizing analysis, test results, and recommendations.
