Job summary

Canvas in Florida seeks a senior mechanical engineer to design, integrate, and verify aircraft hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems for DoD ISR/SOF programs. Requires advanced degrees and extensive DoD experience.

You will oversee hardware design, perform airworthiness, loads, stress, and weight analysis, and guide depot maintenance modifications, with strong emphasis on safety and certification criteria.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering (ABET highly desired) with 10 years in the field.
• Five of the 10+ years must be in the DoD or other USG ISR/SOF orgs.
• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (ABET highly desired) with 12 years in the field, five in DoD/USG.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance for C-130 Special Mission Aircraft during heavy depot maintenance and modification.
• Perform hardware design, development, integration/implementation, and analysis across phases.
• Plan feasibility studies for design improvements and implementation of advanced technologies.
• Develop Tailored Airworthiness Certification Criteria (TACC) or MACC criteria modifications.
• Develop structural and corrosion repairs.
