Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. seeks a Sr.

Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze and test tools, engines and equipment for high-altitude aerospace applications, focusing on production rotating electrical machines and electronics packaging. You will lead or support thermal, structural, dynamic analyses, develop drawings, BOMs, assembly instructions, test plans, and coordinate with subcontractors to deliver robust solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or MS preferred; 8–12 years in mechanical engineering with 5+ years in production rotating electrical machines.
• Experience with MIL-STD-961D or equivalent for subsystems specifications.
• Proficient in CAD/CAE tools (SolidWorks, ANSYS) and materials properties.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and testing of electrical machines and packaging for aerospace applications.
• Perform stress, fatigue and thermal analyses; develop test plans and procedures.
• Develop mechanical drawings, BOMs, assembly instructions and test procedures.
• Coordinate with sub-contractors and manage mid-size development projects.
• Assist in lab and field data collection and testing.
