System One in Germantown, MD is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead end-to-end hardware development for complex aerospace systems. You will guide design from concept through production and service, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure performance, reliability, and certifiability.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical/electromechanical design, experience with CAD and FEA/CFD, and familiarity with GD&T, DFm/DFA, and regulatory standards (DO-160, FARs).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of mechanical/electromechanical design, analysis, testing, or manufacturing experience.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks) and analysis methods (FEA, CFD).
• Experience in hardware design for aerospace/high-reliability environments.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and manufacturability considerations.

Responsabilités

• Lead end-to-end hardware development from concept to production and in-service operation.
• Interact with stakeholders to ensure project alignment and success.
• Own design, hardware verification, and qualification testing.
• Support production ramp-up and field deployment activities.
• Define design criteria and drive system-level optimization.
• Perform hand calculations and analyses; conduct FEA/CFD and use CAD tools.
• Lead design reviews and coordinate with certification teams to qualify components and systems.
• Develop production drawings using GD&T and ensure manufacturability and performance.
• Drive design for manufacturability (DFM) by simplifying designs and reducing parts.
• Establish product lifecycle from supply chain to final integration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to implement in-house production capabilities.
• Plan and execute environmental and performance testing to validate designs.
• Own product delivery timelines across all phases.
