Job summary

System One, and its subsidiaries, seeks a Mechanical Engineer in Germantown, Maryland onsite to lead end-to-end hardware development for aerospace-grade systems. You will work with cross‑functional teams to translate concepts into production, perform analyses, and drive verification and validation activities.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record in mechanical/electromechanical design, strong CAD/FEA/CFD skills, GD&T expertise, and familiarity with FAA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 6+ years in mechanical/electromechanical design, analysis, testing, or manufacturing.
• Strong foundation in statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials.
• Experience hardware design for complex aerospace systems.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks) and FEA/CFD.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Familiarity with FAA DO-160 and FARs.
• Experience with electronics board assembly integration.
• Experience with RF/EMI/EMC considerations.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end hardware development from concept to production.
• Own design verification, qualification testing.
• Plan environmental and performance testing.
• Drive design for manufacturability (DFM) and DFA.
• Develop production drawings using GD&T and tolerances.
• Support production ramp-up and field deployment.
• Lead design reviews with certification team.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities to meet requirements.
• Balance cost, quality, and complexity across the lifecycle.
