Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of advanced mechanical systems for aerospace and defense applications. The role requires deep mechanical expertise and the ability to manage multiple projects in a rapid, agile environment.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to proposals and new business pursuits. A Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required for employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or related role.
• Advanced understanding of mechanical design and CAD software.
• Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
• Experience with CAD/CAE tools.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of advanced mechanical systems and components.
• Perform complex analyses and simulations to validate and optimize designs.
• Develop and oversee the execution of detailed test plans and procedures.
• Review and approve technical documentation and reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of mechanical systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Generate and review engineering drawings for part fabrication and system integration.
• Provide mechanical design input for new business pursuits and proposals.
