Job summary

Harvard University’s SEAS seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer for Active Learning to design, implement, and supervise hands-on mechanical activities for undergraduate and some graduate courses. You will mentor students, coordinate course-related workshops, and ensure safe operation of lab equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
• MS in mechanical engineering is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with CAM and rapid prototyping tools (3D printers, CNC mills, laser cutters).
• Ability to mentor students and staff in lab environments.
• Strong organizational and safety training skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide lab instruction and technical mentorship to students and staff.
• Lead development of course-based support resources and demonstrations.
• Support hands-on workshops and activities and hardware development.
• Maintain lab equipment and ensure safety compliance in SEAS facilities.
• Mentor capstone projects and advise students on professional development.
• Foster collaboration with faculty, teaching staff and learners.
