The senior mechanical engineer’s responsibilities include having primary responsibility for customer installation programs and the mechanical portion of new product development initiatives. They will be a key decision-maker in design / cost improvements for both legacy and new products, manufacturing processes used in production, and customer program implementation.
As one of the leads in the engineering team, the senior mechanical engineer will execute the design of products as it relates to aircraft installations, while meeting both customer requirements and FAA standards. This includes new product scope definition, parts research, prototype fabrication and testing, tooling / vendor selection, and spearheading any sort of design for manufacturability efforts on the production floor. The senior mechanical engineer will be responsible as the program manager / lead engineer on customer programs. This includes outlining program scopes, aircraft-specific research for product installation applicability, drafting of drawing & document deliverables, supporting customer milestones, and overseeing the final installation of Company products onto the customer aircraft. Annual travel amounting to up to 30% of total working hours will be required to participate in sales and installation-related meetings, aircraft surveys, system installation support, off-site testing of new products, and to provide customer support.
