Position Summary
The Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing components, subsystems, and processes with increasing independence. This role contributes to the successful execution of engineering programs by solving technical problems within their domain, supporting verification efforts, and collaborating cross‑functionally to ensure high‑quality, production‑ready outcomes. The Engineer works closely with peers, mentors, and cross‑functional teams to execute technical tasks, mitigate risks, and continuously improve engineering processes and product performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and test components and subsystems with increasing independence
- Develop new processes, components, or subsystem assemblies, or production tooling
- Help establish and execute process, component, and subsystem verification plans
- Lead problem solving efforts and support root cause investigations
- Coordinate project planning activities within assigned scope
- Maintain technical documentation and support engineering deliverables
- Identify and mitigate technical risks
- Lead root cause analysis and problem‑solving efforts
- Influence component‑level technology choices
- Provide ongoing mentorship to junior or peer team members
- Lead basic projects within discipline
- Collaborate efficiently with other engineering teams
- Lead routine technical meetings
- Manage simple vendor relationships
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- 5–8 years’ experience in mechanical system and component design for complex products
- Experience in structural FEA, vibration analysis, and modal testing correlation
- Experience or understanding of heat transfer and thermal management in electromechanical systemsExperience in designing injection‑molded plastic components for high‑volume production
- Experience with metals, plastics, fasteners, adhesives, and surface treatments
- Experience with SolidWorks, PDM, and PLM systems
- Understanding of engineering principles, best practices, and design processes
- Experience supporting products from concept development to production release
- Experience supporting verification and testing activities
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional environments
Additional Desired Qualifications
- Experience participating in vendor or supplier interactions
- Previous experience with avionics or UAVs
- Experience with optics specification and integration
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to walk, stand, and navigate large indoor and outdoor facilities for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs on a regular basis.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in designated areas or when performing specific tasks, in accordance with safety protocols and company policy.
- May be required to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, or crouch during inspections, maintenance walk‑throughs, or emergency response situations.
- Regular exposure to facility operations including noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and industrial equipment.
- Occasional off‑hours or weekend work required for emergency facility responses or projects as needed.
- Requires frequent use of a computer and other standard office equipment for documentation, communication, and coordination tasks.
