Job description

This role stands at the intersection of management and technical expertise, orchestrating the efforts of engineering teams to ensure projects meet specifications, deadlines, and budget requirements. This position requires a blend of leadership skills and engineering acumen, enabling the Manager to guide their team through complex challenges while fostering an environment of innovation and continuous improvement. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Lead the engineering team and team meetings for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Drive actions and monitor the progress of engineer and engineering technician activities in support of product qualification and value stream team objectives.
  • Design, control, and implement Electromechanical products with a focus on aerospace and industrial connector contacts
  • Help develop manufacturing processes according to global engineering codes and standards.
  • Manage engineering projects and deliver them on time.
  • Work with customers and team members to define product needs and requirements.
  • Ensure that installations and applications align with customer needs and safety standards.
  • Research to create new applications and processes
  • Summarize data and report on test results.
  • Maintain functionality of Process and/or Product Development Engineer duties in assigned area(s).
  • Ensure the utilization of formal documentation techniques.
  • Examine needs for new equipment, calculate costs, and help prepare budgets.
  • Continuously improve company products and processes.
  • Execute the departmental administrative duties related to attendance, conditional release of purchase requisitions, and performance management systems.

Other duties as required in support of the department and the company

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervisory responsibilities involve overseeing and managing a highly technical contact and connector design and qualification teams to ensure effective performance, job satisfaction, and contributing to individuals’ career goals!

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years experience leading technical teams
  • Proven experience in engineering roles, with a track record of successful project management.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Training and experience with FMEA creation and deployment methodologies
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards. (EN, BAC, M39029, M38999, etc…)
  • Connector contact production and product development experience preferred.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing and cellular-based manufacturing preferred.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Conversational in any other language preferred.

JOB SKILLS
  • Computer Software: Proficient in MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint is necessary. Knowledge of ERP systems, SAP preferred. Skills in the use of 3D design Solidworks software is a plus.
  • Practical Knowledge: Practical knowledge of machines, production plants, and sites.
  • Mentor & Coaching: Mentor and coach interns, engineers, and technical staff, providing guidance and feedback to foster professional growth and development.
  • Adaptability: Learn many skills on the job.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey standards and procedures.
  • Reliable and flexible to work additional hours on short notice to complete orders or special projects to meet customer or internal demands.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Attention to Detail: Accurate documentation and adherence to specifications are essential.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with engineers and other team members.
  • Problem-solving: Identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Environment: Understanding and experience in a Lean manufacturing environment.
  • Projects: Participate in continuous improvement projects and 5S-related performance teams
  • Aircraft Systems: Knowledge about the operation and design of aircraft systems is a plus. Familiarity with regulatory certification requirements for aircraft electrical and avionics systems is a plus.
