What You'll Do
- Lead mechanical design of switchgear enclosures, structural frames, and installation interfaces, building full 3D models and manufacturing documentation packages in SolidWorks
- Partner with Electrical Engineering on bus layouts, breaker placement, cable routing, and code compliance
- Drive Design for Manufacturing and Assembly to reduce custom components and standardize across product lines
- Own Engineering Change Orders and revision control through PDM/ERP systems, and support prototype builds and factory acceptance testing
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, lead design reviews, and work directly with fabricators and suppliers on sheet metal, machining, and assembly
- Partner with Sales and Estimating on concept layouts and value engineering during proposals
Must Haves
- 4 to 6+ years of hands-on, unsupervised mechanical design experience with switchgear or power distribution equipment
- SolidWorks Professional or Expert certification
- 10+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience in an engineered-to-order or industrial product environment
Nice to Have
- Direct experience with a switchgear OEM or contract manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with factory witness testing and certification documentation
