Job summary

Prevail Recruiting partners with an energy hardware company to hire a hands-on Mechanical Engineer who will take products from requirements through production. You will design with SolidWorks, build prototypes, test, troubleshoot, and collaborate with suppliers to ensure manufacturability.

This role blends computer-aided design with hands-on fabrication to continuously improve the product. You will own development, produce production-ready designs, perform analyses, and support manufacturing

Prevail Recruiting is partnering with an energy hardware company seeking a hands‑on Mechanical Engineer to take products from initial requirements through production.

The role supports mobile power and wind hardware, combining mechanical design and analysis with prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and manufacturing collaboration. This is for someone who enjoys both designing at the computer and physically building and improving what they create.

What You'll Do

• Own development from concept through production. Take mechanical assemblies and major subsystems through requirements, design, prototyping, testing, iteration, and manufacturing release.
• Create production-ready designs. Develop 3D models, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, bills of materials, and documentation, applying GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Build, test, and troubleshoot hardware. Work directly with technicians, machinists, and fabricators to assemble prototypes, investigate failures, and implement improvements.
• Apply engineering analysis. Use structural, thermal, vibration, and durability analysis to guide design decisions, knowing when simulation needs to be validated through physical testing.
• Prepare products for manufacturing. Improve designs for manufacturability and assembly, collaborate with suppliers, and manage engineering changes, inspection requirements, and production-release documentation.

What You'll Bring

• A track record of personally taking mechanical products or major subsystems from concept through production—not just owning one design phase.
• Strong 3D CAD skills, with SolidWorks experience especially relevant, plus proficiency in GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and manufacturing drawings.
• Hands-on prototype, build, and test experience, supported by practical knowledge of processes such as CNC machining, sheet metal, weldments, fabrication, and additive manufacturing.
• The ability to work independently on complex engineering problems and stay involved through design changes, testing, and manufacturing.

Relevant backgrounds include energy equipment, industrial hardware, aerospace and defense, automotive/EVs, robotics, semiconductor equipment, and other complex electromechanical products. Personal projects involving fabrication, machining, 3D printing, repair, or testing are a plus.
