Engtal in Massachusetts is seeking a senior mechanical design engineer to own multiple electromechanical projects across the full product development lifecycle, from concept and customer requirements through design, build, testing, optimization, and launch.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, manufacturing, vendors, and service to deliver precision mechanisms and reliable assemblies, applying SolidWorks, FEA, GD&T, and DFM practices.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
• 7–10 years in mechanical design of complex electromechanical products.
• Strong machine design background: mechanisms, kinematics, sensors, packaging.
• Experience designing precision mechanisms and machinery.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD, plus FEA, GD&T, ECOs.
• DFM and manufacturability: machining, sheet metal, casting, molding, assembly.
• Prototyping, design verification, testing, data analysis, documentation.
• Cross-functional collaboration with electrical, firmware, software, manufacturing, marketing, and service.

Projects range from smaller mechanisms and test fixtures to complex, full-scale machine and system designs. This role will take ownership of multiple projects throughout the full product development lifecycle, from initial concept and customer requirements through design, build, testing, optimization, and launch.

You’ll work in a highly collaborative R&D environment alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, manufacturing, vendors, suppliers, and other internal groups.

Preferred Requirements & Experience

• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
• 7–10 years of experience in mechanical design and development of complex electromechanical products or equipment
• Strong machine design background, including mechanisms, structural components, kinematics, electromechanical drive systems, sensors, and component packaging
• Experience designing precision mechanisms, assemblies, and machinery
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD, along with FEA, GD&T, BOMs, mechanical drawings, and ECOs
• Strong understanding of DFM, design for cost, and manufacturing processes, including machining, sheet metal, casting, injection molding, 3D printing, material selection, fastening, and assembly
• Experience developing and evaluating new design concepts based on customer requirements, feedback, and technical challenges
• Hands‑on experience with prototyping, design verification, and testing, including test setup, data acquisition, analysis and documentation
• Experience collaborating across electrical, firmware, software, manufacturing, marketing and service teams
