Job summary

WB Engineers+Consultants in New York, NY seeks an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead ME/MEP design on varied projects from initial concept to construction. You will mentor staff, supervise multiple teams, and ensure quality and compliance with codes throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has extensive design experience, strong client communication, and the ability to manage scope, budget, and staffing with a project manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited in mechanical engineering.
• 7 - 10+ years of MEP related design experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, design and calculation software.
• PE preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge.
• Ability to interface with clients effectively.
• Ability to work on several concurrent projects.
• Expert knowledge of design and building codes.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of construction process.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex technical issues on projects.
• Assess the requirements of a project, break a project into tasks, and work with a Project Manager to determine the scope of work, budget, and staffing.
• Write scope of work for mechanical design based on preliminary review and meetings with the client.
• Prepare engineering studies and schematic design for new systems.
• Analyze operation of existing systems.
• Work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes is required.
• Assign and review work of project design team.
• Check progress of work and alert Project Manager to change of scope or additional services.
• Review contractor applications for payments.
• Coordinate all aspects of project document completion with clients and other design professionals.
• Prepare or review construction budgets based on experience and scope of project.
• Supervise staff on multiple projects, provide assertive management and technical leadership, ensure work is completed as planned and scheduled in compliance with QA practices.
• Mentor younger staff.

Job Summary
