Maxwell Bond is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design of a humanoid robotics platform moving from prototyping to a sophisticated hardware system. You will lead from concept to prototype, testing and iteration, shaping the core mechanical architecture for scalable robotics.

The role emphasizes hands-on design, integration with electrical/controls teams, and delivering robust hardware suitable for manufacturing and real-world work.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience designing and building complex electromechanical systems.
• Experience with robotics, robotic arms, automation, actuators or advanced hardware.
• Experience taking hardware from concept to prototype and test.
• Humanoid robotics experience is not required, but solved moving hardware problems welcomed.

Senior Mechanical Engineer – Advanced Robotics

NYC/Brooklyn | $180K–$300K Base + Meaningful Equity | Early-Stage

We’re working with an early-stage robotics company building highly capable humanoid robots designed to perform real-world physical work across manufacturing — including manipulation, assembly and other tasks traditionally performed by people.

You’ll be joining a 5-person engineering team at the point where the product is moving from early prototypes into a much more sophisticated hardware platform. Following a significant funding round, they’re now scaling the core engineering team with 4–5+ hires across mechanical, electrical, controls and robotics.

As their Senior Mechanical Engineer, this is an opportunity to have real ownership of the physical architecture of the robot rather than owning one small part of an established product.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll own the mechanical design of the robot, taking systems from concept through prototyping, testing and iteration.

• Designing mechanisms, joints, linkages and actuator systems
• Developing mechanical architectures for dynamic robotic systems
• CAD, prototyping and hands-on hardware testing
• Designing around motors, gearboxes, bearings and other electromechanical components
• Structural design, tolerancing, materials and mechanical analysis
• Designing for manufacturability, assembly and reliability
• Working closely with electrical, controls and robotics engineers
• Helping shape the mechanical architecture as the team scales

What they’re looking for

• Mechanical Engineers with strong hands-on experience designing and building complex electromechanical systems.
• Experience with robotics, robotic arms, automation, actuators, mechanisms or other advanced hardware would be highly relevant.
• Strong CAD and mechanical design experience, with a track record of taking hardware from concept through prototyping and testing.
• You don't necessarily need previous humanoid robotics experience — they’re interested in engineers who have worked on sophisticated moving hardware and enjoy solving difficult mechanical problems.
