Senior Mechanical Engineer - Humanoid Robotic Manipulation
What's In It For You?
- Competitive compensation up to $300k + equity
- Own the mechanical design and technical game plan for next-generation Humanoid manipulation hardware
- High level of technical ownership and autonomy, with the opportunity to shape architecture & engineering standards
- Work on complex manipulation problems involving actuators, joints, transmissions, end effectors, and robotic arms
- Work alongside exceptional engineers across controls, electrical, firmware, and robotics
About the Role
I'm working with a well-funded robotics company developing advanced robotic systems for industrial and manufacturing environments. They're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design and develop robotic arms, actuated joints, transmissions, structures, and end effectors from concept through production.
This is a hands-on IC role for someone who has shipped real robotic or high-performance electromechanical hardware and wants significant ownership over the technical direction.
What You'll Do As A Senior Mechanical Engineer:
- Own mechanical design of robotic arms, joints, actuators, transmissions, and end effectors.
- Design mechanisms optimised for torque density, backdrivability, weight, stiffness, durability, and cost.
- Integrate motors, gearing, bearings, sensors, and structures into compact assemblies.
- Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, machine design, and FEA/structural analysis.
- Rapidly prototype using 3D printing, CNC, and other fabrication methods.
- Lead testing, characterization, durability testing, and failure analysis.
- Drive DFM/DFA and work with suppliers/CMs to move designs into production.
- Collaborate closely with controls, electrical, and firmware teams.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years designing and shipping electromechanical hardware as a Mechanical/Senior Mechanical Engineer.
- Hands-on experience with robotic manipulators, actuated joints, robotic arms, cobots, legged robots, aerospace mechanisms, or similar systems.
- Strong experience with actuators, motors, gearing/transmissions, bearings, and mechanisms.
- Expert CAD skills in SolidWorks, Creo, NX, Onshape, or similar.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance stacks, machine design, materials, and structural analysis.
- Proven ability to take hardware from concept → prototype → validated production.
Nice to Have
- Dexterous hands, grippers, or end-effectors
- Humanoid or legged robotics
- FEA, topology optimisation, or lightweighting
- Controls/dynamics knowledge
- Prototype-to-volume manufacturing experience
