Overview

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Sr. Mechanical Engineer designs, prototypes, and validates new products while collaborating across the Sharp organization. Responsible for product component design and assembly design, validation within budget, on schedule, and meeting performance requirements. Focuses on mechanical disciplines including plastic and steel component prototyping, tooling, FMEA, CAD, PDM, specifications, supplier collaboration, and stage gate process. Comfortable with digital engineering tools, hands-on prototyping, manufacturing support, and product validation.

The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for creating excellent consumer products.

Responsibilities

• Concept development, planning, prototyping, and validation.
• Mechanical design and specification development.
• Product data management, compliance, and manufacturing support.
• Support and contribute to SMCA ISO Design / Development Procedures.
• Participate in R&D activities.
• Conduct compliance testing activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Five (5) years of experience or equivalent.
• Preferred experience with Creo and/or SolidWorks 3D CAD software, PDM, DFMEA, design for plastic injection molding, design for metal stamping, and design for manufacturing.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $54,484 - $102,157, excluding bonuses, incentives, and benefits. The starting salary depends on experience, education, training, certification, and location. Discretionary annual incentives and awards may also be available.
