Allegion in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Product Lifecycle Engineering (PLE) Mechanical Team. You will sustain current market products and develop design documentation, 3D models, drawings and test instructions, collaborating with Systems Engineering, Hardware and Firmware to deliver quality solutions.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years of mechanical design and hands-on experience with Creo, SolidWorks and Windchill, and willingness

• BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in the design, development, implementation, and integration of mechanical systems.
• Ability to quickly build proof-of-concept solutions and lead globally distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structured problem-solving approaches to design challenges and determine root causes.
• Utilize FMEA, GD&T, tolerance analysis and DFM/DFA to mitigate risks early in the design process.
• Develop design documentation, 3D models/drawings, and manufacturing/test instructions.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Hardware and Firmware to ensure cohesive cross-functional design.

Senior Mechanical Engineer: Indianapolis, IN

Allegion is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Product Lifecycle Engineering (PLE) Mechanical Team! Allegion is looking for a passionate Senior Mechanical Engineer to work as part of a highly engaged small team within a global organization of 12,000+ employees, representing 30+ brands (including Schlage, Von Duprin and LCN) focused on safety, security and access management. You’ll work on solutions that will enable seamless access and help keep you and your loved ones safe and secure where they work, live and thrive. Within the PLE team, you will sustain current market products to ensure continuous quality experience to the customer.

What You Will Do:

• Conduct structured problem-solving approaches to design challenges to determine root causes
• Utilize engineering tools (FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, GD&T, Tolerance Stack Analysis & DFM/DFA) to ensure that requirement risks are evaluated and mitigated early in the design process.
• Develop required design documentation, 3D models/drawings, and instructions for manufacturing and product test requirements.
• Work with all engineering disciplines in a team environment with good understanding of cross functional design processes (high focus on interactions with Systems Engineering, Hardware and Firmware)
• Coordinate development timelines and track activities to meet delivery and cost commitments.
• Within the PLE team, you will sustain current market products to ensure continuous quality experience to the customer.

What You Need to Succeed:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in the design, development, implementation, and integration of mechanical systems.
• Ability to quickly build proof-of-concept solutions that are forward-looking to how they could be implemented on a larger scale.
• Ability leading teams that may be globally co-located.
• Experience with manufacturing processes such as die casting, investment casting, powdered metal, stampings, injection molded plastics, machining, LPM, and rapid prototyping is a plus.
• Experience with Mechanism Design, Creo, Solidworks, Windchill.
• Experience with Creo is a plus.
• Travel requirements, including international travel: 15%
