Job summary

Allegion in Princeton, Illinois, seeks a Mechanical Engineer for LCN Closers to design, develop and maintain products for commercial and residential markets. You will translate customer needs into technical specs, perform design analyses, and contribute to testing and documentation under schedule constraints.

The role requires a BS degree in engineering and at least 2 years’ experience, with proficiency in FMEA, DOE, GD&T, and root cause analysis. Occasional plant-floor work is expected.

Job Title Mechanical Engineer, LCN Closers – Princeton, Illinois

Seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our team in a hands-on technical role focused on the design and development of new products and improved mechanical hardware for the commercial and residential markets. This position will support product engineering deliverables, including business case development, concept generation, design development, design analysis, formal documentation, testing, and other assigned engineering tasks. The role is responsible for the design, analysis, development, launch, and maintenance of products while ensuring adherence to engineering schedules.

Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. The company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.) for this employment position.

Key responsibilities include translating customer needs into technical specifications, resolving design and development issues, and collaborating effectively in a team setting.

What You Will Do:
  • Conceive, design, develop and analyze new Mechanical/Electronic door hardware
  • Improve upon current designs by reducing cost and increasing robustness and reliability
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, positive, courteous manner with all levels of management, customers, vendors, visitors and employees
  • Willingness to spend up to 50% of time in a manufacturing plant environment
  • Self-motivated with ability to establish priorities and effectively manage time to complete multiple tasks within specified timeframes
  • Ability to work independently and/or cooperatively and effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to apply basic problem solving and engineering analysis to complex product and process related issues
  • Communicate project status through reports, presentations and design reviews
  • Work with suppliers to source and evaluate purchased components
  • Work with manufacturing to produce or assemble manufactured components and assemblies
  • Periodic customer contact. May participate in customer presentations
What You Need to Succeed:
  • BSME or BSMET required
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience
  • Ability to use design tools including FMEA, Root Causes Analysis, DOE, GD&T, Tol stacks up & DFA.
  • Preferred Creo experience
  • Preferred understanding of common manufacturing processes

Compensation:

This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience. The expected Base Salary Range: $65,000-$95,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
