Job summary

PTS Advance in Houston, TX, is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design and refine mud pumps and other positive displacement equipment. This hybrid, direct-hire role involves real hardware work with a tight team of engineers.

You will design mud pumps, perform stress analyses, create drawings, source components, and develop test plans from concept through final specs, with minimal travel—about once a year domestically.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years of design experience on mud pumps or similar equipment.
• CAD proficiency in Creo, Inventor, or SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Design and refine mud pumps, positive displacement pumps, and frac pumps.
• Run stress analysis and tolerance studies on components and systems.
• Build detailed design layouts and drawings.
• Spec and source purchased components.

Design the pumps that keep oilfield drilling running.

I’m a third-party recruiter running a direct-hire search on behalf of an oilfield equipment manufacturer in Houston. They need a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design and refine mud pumps and other positive displacement equipment. You’d join a team of 6 other engineers working on real hardware, not paperwork.

What you’ll do

• Design and refine mud pumps, positive displacement pumps, and frac pumps
• Run stress analysis and tolerance studies on components and systems
• Build detailed design layouts and drawings
• Spec and source purchased components
• Create and run test plans to validate performance
• Work with cross-functional teams from early concept through final specification

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 3+ years of design experience on mud pumps, positive displacement pumps, frac pumps, or similar equipment
• CAD proficiency (Creo, Inventor, or SolidWorks)
• FEA experience (Ansys or SolidWorks Simulation)
• Comfort reading P&ID, electrical, and hydraulic schematics
