Job summary

Blackstone Talent Group, a technology consulting and talent agency, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our client's team for large, complex HVAC projects. You will lead from concept through construction drawings, ensuring code compliance, LEED standards, and high-quality drawings.

The role emphasizes energy analyses, coordination with PMs and trades, and mentoring design staff to meet tight schedules while delivering reliable, efficient systems.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or Construction Management.
• 8+ years of experience with a Design/Build Mechanical Contractor or HVAC consultant.
• Professional Engineer license highly desirable, but not required.
• Excellent understanding of engineering and HVAC design fundamentals.
• Thorough understanding of HVAC systems and applications.
• Excellent familiarity with Building Codes and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead project planning, coordination, and execution.
• Independently complete conceptual design through construction drawing development for large complex projects.
• Create conceptual designs certified to Building Codes, Energy Codes, and LEED standards.
• Design equipment, duct and piping layouts for assigned projects.
• Engage engineering applications and/or managers in project decisions.
• Apply psychrometrics, refrigeration, acoustics, and controls systems as needed.
• Coordinate project designs with Project Management, Construction, Service, Controls and trade partners.
• Conduct economic and energy analyses.
• Provide field engineering support and troubleshoot as required.
• Ensure quality of HVAC drawings and models.
• Communicate effectively with team members and manage time to meet schedules.
• Oversee junior designers when requested by Manager.

• Expert in project planning, coordination, and execution
• Independently complete conceptual design through construction drawing development for large complex project or multiple projects simultaneously
• Create conceptual designs certified to Building Codes, Energy Codes, and LEED standards
• Responsible for calculations, design and layout of equipment, duct and piping systems on assigned projects
• Appropriate engagement of engineering applications and/or managers in project decisions
• Extensive experience in applications engineering including psychrometrics, refrigeration, acoustics, and controls systems
• Proactively communicate and coordinate project designs with Project Management, Construction and Service departments, Controls, and other trade partners
• Conduct economic and energy analyses
• Field engineering: assist with project execution, trade coordination, scheduling, document management and problem solving/troubleshooting, as required
• Responsible for the quality of HVAC design drawings and models
• Effectively and professionally communicate with colleagues and project team members
• Manage time to meet project schedules and task deadlines
• Oversee other design team members to complete project assignments when requested by Manager
• Strong understanding of clients engineering standards and project execution processes
• Other duties as assigned by Manager
